Other Services

Making banking simple for you means giving you easy access to the bank and your money whenever you need it.

Through the services described below, that’s exactly what you get.

Overdraft Privilege

The Stock Exchange Bank (“we, us, or our”) offers the Overdraft Privilege Service. If your account qualifies for the Overdraft Privilege, we will consider, without obligation on our part, paying items for which your account has insufficient or unavailable funds, instead of automatically returning those items unpaid.

Transactions that May Qualify for Overdraft Privilege

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction. Although there are many reasons why your account might become overdrawn, most overdrafts result from the following:

a) You write a check, swipe your debit card or initiate an electronic funds transfer in an amount that exceeds the amount of funds available in your account;

b) You deposit a check or other item into your account and the item is returned unpaid, which causes a negative balance in your account once your balance is reduced by the amount of the returned check;

c) You have inadequate funds in your account when we assess a fee or service charge; or

d) You initiate a transaction before funds deposited into your account are “available” or “finally paid” according to our Funds Availability Policy.

The Overdraft Privilege Service applies to a variety of transactions, including checks and other transactions made using your checking account number, automatic bill payments, ATM transactions and everyday debit card transactions; however, we will not include ATM and everyday debit card transactions within our Overdraft Privilege Service without first receiving your affirmative consent to do so. Absent your affirmative consent, ATM and everyday debit card transactions generally will not be paid under Overdraft Privilege.

Participation in Overdraft Privilege is not automatic or mandatory. Once you have enrolled in the service you may opt-out any time by notifying one of our customer service representatives. Furthermore, you may revoke your affirmative consent to have ATM and everyday debit card transactions considered for payment under Overdraft Privilege without removing other items from the service. Simply inform us of your preference.

As noted above, we retain full discretion to decline to pay any item under the Overdraft Privilege Program. This means we can refuse to pay any overdraft for any reason. Even if we decide to pay an overdraft item, absent an agreement to the contrary, such payment does not create any duty to pay future overdrafts. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined and we may assess NSF fees on your account in accordance with our account agreement and the fee schedule in effect at the time of the overdraft.

Fees

For each overdraft we pay, we will charge the standard per item overdraft fee (currently $30.00) set forth in our fee schedule. A maximum of no more than five (5) $30.00 per item fees will be accessed on any one day. Your account will also be charged a daily overdraft fee of $1.50 for each calendar day your account is overdrawn in excess of $100.00. We will notify you by mail if we pay or return any insufficient or unavailable funds items on your account; however, we have no obligation to notify you before we pay or return any item. The amount of any overdrafts, including our fees, is due and payable immediately or on demand.

Accounts Eligible for Overdraft Privilege

Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary service and is generally limited to a $400.00 overdraft (negative) balance for Free Checking Accounts or a $700.00 overdraft (negative) balance for all other eligible account types. Please note that the per item and daily overdraft fees count toward your Overdraft Privilege Limit. If there is an overdraft paid by us on an account with more than one (1) owner on the signature card, each owner, and agent if applicable, drawing/presenting the item creating the overdraft, shall be jointly or severally liable for such overdrafts including our fees. We may at our sole discretion limit the number of accounts eligible for Overdraft Privilege to one account per household or per taxpayer identification number. Further, Overdraft Privilege is usually extended only to accounts in good standing.

Criteria for Enrollment in the Overdraft Privilege Service

a) The account must have been open for at least ninety (90) days;

b) Within each thirty (30) day period deposits must have equaled or exceeded $800 (for $400 ODP limit) or $1400 (for $700 ODP limit);

c) The account owner is current on all loan obligations with us;

d) A completed Enrollment Form must be on file for this service;

e) The account is not subject to any legal or administrative order or levy, such as bankruptcy or tax lien; and

Ineligible Accounts and Limitations

Savings Accounts, Money Market Accounts, Public Fund/Charitable Organization Accounts, Business Accounts, Trust Accounts and Minor’s Accounts are not eligible for this service.

Optional Overdraft Protection Services

We offer additional overdraft protection services that you may apply for. These include Overdraft Protection (Transfer from another Stock Exchange Bank account owned by you) or a consumer loan. If you apply and are qualified for these optional services, you may save money on the total fees you pay us for overdraft privilege services.

Always a Discretionary Service

Our Overdraft Privilege Service does not constitute an actual or implied agreement between you and us. Nor does it constitute an actual or implied obligation of or by us. This service represents a purely discretionary courtesy or privilege that we may provide to you from time to time and which may be withdrawn or withheld by us at any time without prior notice or reason or cause.

How We Post Items To Your Account:

1st - We post our internal adjustments and charges/debits to your account first. We post these in the order in which they are presented.

2nd - We post teller cash items paid to you (you cash a check or withdraw funds from one of our tellers). We post these in the order in which they are presented.

3rd - We post electronic cash items paid to you or electronic transfer or bill payment items or recurring auto debits to your account to make loan or other payments you have initiated (you get cash at an ATM, or transfer money from one account to another at an ATM or by telephone or by Internet Banking) and electronic purchases you have initiated (you use your ATM card or check card to purchase items). We post these in the order in which they are presented.

4th - Then, we post checks you have written in the following order. Generally, we will post your (check) transactions in the order of your lowest dollar transactions to your highest dollar transactions (commonly referred to as "Low to High Dollar").

Overdraft Privilege should not be used to pay ordinary or routine expenses and you should not rely on overdrafts as a means to cover these expenses. If at any time you feel you need help with your financial obligations, please contact one of our service representatives at 580-256-3314.
